HTC Sensation XL Now In UK
HTC Sensation XL has finally arrived in the UK – a SIM-free version will cost you £480 (taxes included). The price is pretty steep, if fact, the Sensation XL is one of the most expensive Androids on the market, so let’s see what you get for your money.
The distinctive feature of the XL is, of course, Beats Audio, licensed from Dr. Dre. Apart from a nice logo on the back panel of the phone, this means two things – a specially-designed sound profile approved by Dr. Dre, and some rather nice headphones included in the box, which are the main reason for the high price.
The hardware is a bit different from the rest of the Sensation range here, as there’s a single-core 1.5 Ghz processor instead of the dual-core one found in the HTC Sensation and the Sensation XE, and although the screen is larger at 4.7 inches, it has a slightly lower resolution of 480×800 pixels. The lower power consumption of the single-core processor allows the Sensation XL to have a smaller 1600 mAh battery, which in turn makes the device slightly thinner than its sisters.
Another great thing about the phone is its f/2.2 8-megapixel camera with a 28 mm lens and dual LED flashes, essentially the same one found on HTC Titan, and which is widely acknowledged to be one of the best shooters out there.
As already mentioned, a SIM-free device is already available and will set you back £480. However, if you can wait for one more week Amazon will be offering the phone for £450. There’s another option as well – Three UK will provide the smartphone if you don’t mind signing a two-year contract and pay £34 monthly, or closer to £40 if you want unlimited data. There’s no word yet on whether other carriers will offer the phone.
The Sensation XL seems like a great choice for melomanes, but in case you consider Beats Audio to be merely a fancy gimmick, check out the regular Sensation deals.
