HTC Sensation XL Getting Android 4.0.3 ICS Update Now

HTC Sensation XL Getting Android 4.0.3 ICS Update Now

One of the first smartphones for which Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was being tested comes from the HTC Sensation lineup. The phone that carries the XL suffix was launched back in October and was one of the first smartphones supporting Dr. Dre’s Beats system. But HTC has been launching top-level devices one after another and this handset like many others was lost in the crowd of other HTC-branded phones. But not so long ago HTC started to test the ICS beta update on THIS very phone; now all tests are over, and it’s time to push the update to the final users.

HTC has officially announced the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Sensation XL in most European and Asian markets. It is 200MB, so you’d better check your battery and SD card for free space before downloading it. Plus, as it is too large, maybe it’s better to wait for Wi-Fi connection, otherwise it will suck your data cap. Anyway, whenever you feel it’s the right time to install it, go to Settings -> About phone -> Software updates.

The ICS update will bring many improvements, but you won’t get HTC Sense 4.0 UI, because, as it was reported earlier, the Sensation XL will be updated only to Sense 3.6. But the rest of enhancements are really impressive: they include Face Unlock, a new app dock and a multi-tasking menu.

We have already introduced the official HTC list of handsets that will be getting the ICS update. So if you don’t own an HTC Sensation XL, take a look at it to learn when your phone will be grabbing its own portion of ICS.
