Sony ST21i Tapioca Renamed To Sony Xperia Tipo
Sony’s portfolio for this year will be rather rich, and it will include not only high-end devices like the Xperia S, but many mid-range and low-end smartphones, too. One of this year’s low-ends will be the Sony ST21i, which is also known as the Xperia Tapioca. Now some features of this handset have become known — Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology revealed that the phone will be called the Sony Xperia Tipo. Yes, you’ve read correctly and this is not a typo
The Sony ST21i is a low-end smartphone, as I mentioned above, so you won’t see any breath-taking features in it. On the other hand, such smartphones are usually loved by consumers, since many people just can’t afford high-end and expensive devices.
Anyway, the Sony Xperia Tipo is packed with a 3.2-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 320×480 pixels (HVGA), an 800MHz processor with Adreno 200 GPU, 512MB of RAM and a 3MP camera with fixed-focus. As for software, it’s the only gladsome feature of the phone, because the Tipo runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Recently when Sony unveiled its waterproof devices, many thought they’re like some phones that were leaked earlier. Now some users think this handset is the same Xperia Go, though I guess these are quite different phones, because the Go and Acro S were announced to come in Fall. The other users are sure this the successor of the X8, but let’s put aside all these assumptions and wait for official info, because only Sony can uncover what a handset we are dealing with, and whether it is a new creation or a follow-up to any handset.
Unfortunately, there is even no hint when the smartphone will be exactly launched and what will be the first market where it will come to, though earlier the phone was rumored to come to Russia.
