Xperia Active Getting Android 4.0 Update

Xperia Active Getting Android 4.0 Update

Sony’s next smartphone to get the Android 4.0 ICS update is the Xperia Active. We have already mentioned that the company is rolling out updates for other Xperia handsets and tablets, but unfortunately, not all devices carrying the Xperia moniker will be upgraded to ICS — for example, Sony has already announced that the PlayStation Certified Xperia Play will stick to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Anyway, the update for the Active was announced long ago, and now we can finally download it.

As usual, you need to check out whether your phone’s SI (Sales Item) is in the list provided by Sony. You can find this 8-digit number under the battery of your phone or on the box. Once you discover that your phone can be upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS, use the USB cable to connect your Xperia Active to the PC via PC Companion and Bridge for Mac. All you have to do next is to follow the instructions.

Sony is pushing out the update region by region, so there is a chance to meet some problems while updating. But no need to worry — if your phone’s SI is in the list, sooner or later you’ll get your update.

If you did everything as you should, but the updating process was interrupted for any reason, there are some tips you’ll have to follow to make it right. Firstly, I recommend you to change the computer. If it doesn’t help, disable the antivirus program. Thirdly, restart the computer and try to update in safe mode.

If you have already updated your Xperia Active or met some problems, share your thoughts and experience with us — there are many people waiting for feedback on this update to find out whether it’s worth downloading.
