HTC To Launch Mysterious Tablet In UK

HTC To Launch Mysterious Tablet In UK

I don’t know if there is any sense in launching a tablet in the UK when everyone is waiting for the upcoming Google Nexus 7 and Microsoft Surface slates. But probably HTC have something interesting in mind, and we’ll learn more about it when their mysterious tablet is finally launched in the UK.

A few days ago HTC spokesman told PC Advisor that they were working on the follow-up to the HTC Flyer, which will definitely be  launched in the UK. Of course, if it succeeds, the manufacturer will bring it to other markets as well, but it’s too early to talk about such plans yet. Moreover, it’s a big question whether the HTC tablet will be able to win people’s hearts in Britain, since the existing tablets of the Taiwanese company are really popular there.

For example, the HTC Flyer that has a lot of amazing features for a 7-inch tablet, was completely ignored because of its high price, 600 GBP ($930). Later its price was cut down to 200 GBP ($310 USD), but it was too late, as the market was already full of many other Android-powered slates at the same or even cheaper price.

As for the HTC Jetstream, which was packed with better features and larger screen, it is not available in the UK yet. Moreover, as the tablet was launched a long time ago in other markets, there is no sense in bringing it now.

Nothing is known about the new and mysterious HTC tablet, but HTC spokesman’s words make us think it’ll be a high-end device able to compete with the Nexus 7, Surface, Kindle Fire 2 and the others. I guess the new iPad is out of competition at the moment.
